With more than 1.5 million residents, Ekaterinburg is ranking the 4th most populated city in Russia. The city is located on the Iset River, approximately 1600 km east from Moscow on the eastern slope of the Middle Urals near the border of Europe and Asia. It has a fairly well-developed infrastructure for trade, tourism, hospitality, culture and entertainment, and is a major centre of science and education in Russia. Ekaterinburg is one of the important business points in Russia as its financial institutions take an active part in the Russian economy, making a substantial contribution to the development of international cooperation.
The XVIIth International Feofilov Symposium is organized by the Ural Federal University, the
Ural Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences,
M.N. Mikheev Institute of Metal Physics UB RAS, and the Regional Scientific and Technical Center (Nonprofit Partnership).
The upcoming IFS2018 will be hosted at the
M.N. Mikheev Institute of Metal Physics UB RAS located in a 5-minute walk from the Ural Federal University Main Building and near a green area of Dendrological Exhibition Park. The city's historic center is in a 30-minute walk or a 10-minute tram ride from the venue.

M.N. Mikheev Institute of Metal Physics UB RAS, many other institutes of the Ural Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences and the Ural Federal University Campus are connected to Koltsovo Airport, Ekaterinburg Railway Station and North and South Bus Terminals by buses, trams, trolleybuses and metro.

How to pay for the fare
The journey in the city public transport of Ekaterinburg costs 28 rubles. The amount is the same for trams, trolleybuses, buses, minibuses and metro. In the subway you can use your bank card with a chip by applying it to the turngate or buy a token in the window. In all other transport you can pay in cash or by your bank card. Also everywhere there is in use a Ekaterinburg transport card, which is called Ekarta.
